Funding Awarded: $170 Million for Long-Duration Energy Storage Demonstrations

The Long-Duration Energy Storage Demonstrations funding opportunity provides $349 million in funding for projects that prove deployment feasibility and can provide a pathway towards the Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Storage Grand Challenge (ESGC) goal of $0.05/kWh levelized-cost of storage by 2030. That is the first part of the $505 million in funding appropriated from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) for energy storage demonstration projects.
